Advice for beginner rock climber

I am looking to buy some rock shoes. I've climbed numerous times and am going to really get out there alot this summer. So what is your advice on shoes for an intermediate climber (as I will improve my skill quickly) So I guess I need a versatile shoe.

buy some 5.10 heucos. they are comfortable and edge well, what sort of climbing are you doing? in va i would imagine mostly face at either seneca or the new river.

Hey thanks for the tip. One question, should I find the older 5.10 Huecoes or the new ones?

I'll start out climbing small stuff in Shenandoah and the nearbye Blue Ridge (there are a bunch of cliffs near the Skyline Dr.) and work up to a trip to New River and Seneca! Have you been?

Beyond that, go with a slip lasted lace-up with sticky stuff on the bottom (in other words, avoid Boreal).

You will not climb well in shoes that are so tight that your feet are killing you. Get a snug fit that you can live with, as your climbing improves you will know what features are important to you and you can go with a more specialized shoe.

Is the La Sportiva Mythos. The Mythos is an excellent all around shoe - have used mine bouldering, on trad/sprot routes, and in the gym. Plus the rubber is pretty sticky. Since the are unlined, they stretch, so I would go with a shoe that is 1 - 1 1/2 times smaller than your street shoe size. Just my $.02.
