Best airport to yosemite?

Not little expensive close by airports but big ones. By best, the least complicated for traffic and route. I'm thinking San Francisco, crap I hate planning this sort of thing. Need to lock in some tickets this week.

When the rest of the Ga. gang came out in Otober for Yosemite, they flew into Oakland. You can probably, from Oakland, catch a commuter flight to Fresno, which would get you as close as possible from the air....Otherwise, Oakland or San Francisco it is. Ed

way easy and usually fairly cheap. Grab a car and it's about 2.5 - 3 hours straight down 395 to the East entrance at Lee Vining. Pretty drive too.

Wish I had such problems.

Oakland has some advantages if you can get a convenient flight - for a start you avoid having to cross the bay via bridge which can sometimes be a traffic nightmare. Secondly, Oakland typically does better in poor weather conditions than SFO.

If you do the Reno option I *think* you have to be careful of Tioga pass closing if you want to cross through to the valley via Toulemne Meadows. Should be fine in summer though.

Of course! East entrance of Tioga Pass Rd (Hwy 120) is definitely closed right now. On the upside, it's an amazingly beautiful SKI into the park. ;)

Oakland worked prety good for us Gam, no lines, not crowded, we had a rental car in 15 min, about a 3 hour drive was the only bad point, but that was minimal, if you haven't already been there, you gonna be amazed

Don't forget about San Jose either. It may be smaller than OAK or SFA, but it is still fairly large and is closer as well. It also depends on where you are coming from. We are looking for flights up there from Houston and the best from a price standpoint is a non-stop to Bakersfield, which is small airport that is somewhat closer to Yosemite than San Jose.

I'm no expert on the area, but I went there last year with a friend from San Luis Opispo (sp?). It was a faily long drive and I plan on going back next year but flying into Fresno.
