How to convert .wav to .mp3?

You guys are my experts here. I used CDEx to convert a song from a CD to a .wav file but it won't do .mp3. I have used Windows Media Player and that only converts to .wma or something which is a smaller file size but I'd really like to figure out how to convert to .mp3. Any good software out there? Free software preferrably? ;)

    Thanks!

    This may help...

Disclaimer: I haven't used this so caveat emptor, or something like that.;)

For just a quick file conversion, hmmm.. Most of the cd-ripping software I have goes straight to MP3 and WAV at the same time.

One such program is EZ-CD-DA Extractor 6.5... This will pull the audio off your CD and save it to what'ev format you want... Works well.. Right Click and Save on name above.. It's a 30-day trial version... Easy to use... There are some 100% free pieces out there as well, but I'm not familiar with them off hand.. Go to MP3.com to get some other ideas..

Agree. MusicMatch is the best I've found...
