What doesn't blow away, should be nice... I'll be trying to get to Kirkwood Sunday, but avy conditions may make it tough. Going to try to drive to South Lake Saturday night via 50, then try our luck with Kirkwood in the morning if they can get the roads clear.. If not, who knows.. Just might have to call in sick Monday...

Colorado got hit hard last week during the holiday break. Lots of snow and very cold temps. I-70 was closed on Sunday/Monday due to avalances and blowing snow. Good thing we had a nice warm place to stay and didn't need to get to work on Monday.

    Tru dat

Yep, you guys did get some good stuff.... Was a little envious while hanging up in Tahoe for the New Year...

And yes, always nice to have a warm place to crash when in need... I just really, really hope I can make it to the hill Sunday... Can't bare the thought of all that snow not getting ridden by me.. ;) Yes, I'm selfish that way... But hey, didn't get many good days last year...

Yah, you'd think they meant it or something... The weather blowing through the San Fran area over night and today is prettys solid, but doesn't feel "epic". However, the snow fall predictions and blizzard conditions for the next 24 hours in Tahoe are looking pretty intense... The original forecasts for this 24 hour period has actually changed for even more snow fall... Crazy... Look at the expected accumulation just for today... 50+ inches.. 24hr period... Dude!

If I can't get to a mountain on Sunday to ride, I'll be back up there Wednesday I hope... Going for a "Sick" day.

To anyone else even thinking about Tahoe, be carefull right now. Don't even think about a drive up there until Saturday afternoon or evening at the earliest. Still, if you can hold off, not a bad idea to wait this storm out and play hookie from work as the small next wave expected Saturday night into Sunday is starting to look bigger again too... Be prepared to be stuck up there until Monday sometime if you do go up.

That's insane. Couple the snow fall amounts with the 100+ mph wind and you have some serious conditions.

So far best we've seen on the Mt Ward, one of the peaks along the crest, is sustained winds 80+ and peaks of 165mph... Scary when you consider the fact that they use a 125mph fan to simulate skydiving in a vertical windtunnel. Needless to say, resorts are closed today, and will be slow opening tomorrow..

Good times, good times... ;) Just have to hope that the snow actually sticks in places, rather than just getting blown to hell and back..
