    Calling all Wild Tahoeians!

Anybody up for riding December 4th-9th? The girlie and i are headed West of Colorado. Is there any snow on the ground yet? Colorado is getting quite the goods this season. Hopefully it's not just a jinx and will keep coming.

I hope you didn't jinx us... So far though, we have pretty much nada, nothing, zilch, crap, crud, dirt, mud... you get the idea... Above 8500ft, there is a tiny bit on ground in sheltered areas still... other than that, lotta dirt... Still waiting for our first real storm to jump-start the season... Still waiting... Still waiting... still waiting... waiting.. still...

Even if there is snow, I'm not sure if I'll make it up there to ride. Will be off in the UK on business the week before, and will probably have my hands full that week back home... Have to play it by ear...

It was 84 degrees in my neck of the woods yesterday. No rain in sight, which means no snow in Tahoe. I'm about to do my rain dance soon. Usually involves a lot of alcohal.

If only Tahoe could get half of The Rockies freshness. Doing my snowdance as we speak.

Yep, a little is starting to fall. Started warm and wet, so it should have woken up the old snow still sitting up high and hopefully bonded "okay" to it for now. No big dumps yet, but a little here and there is more than none anywhere!

Hey Fu! Looks like the snow gods are looking favorable on your visit. The jet stream has shifted and the party is starting. Should have 3-6ft on the ground by Saturday morning. Not exactly epic, but should allow for a few turns. Weather is unsettled for next week still too, so might be some off and on showers for a while...

Hope it comes true... If so, I'll be at Kirkwood on Sunday getting my first turns of the year..

Should be awesome by the weekend. Looks like another big storm due by Thursday night. Some of the resorts got 3-4 feet total from the last wave. Good timing and thanks for sending snow our way

    Talking Sounds awesome!

Guess i'll bring the gear now. I was hoping something would happen. I haven't been to Tahoe since i was about 7 years old. I'd love to meet up with you guys at Kirkwood or Heavenly. I'll be staying on the South Shore at the Embassy Suites i believe. Is it easy to get a ride to Kirkwood? We probably will not rent a car so we will be a little limited as to how we get to the mountains. Heavenly is a for sure. We could pitch for gas if anyone is game. I'm planning on bringing my computer with me.

    I'm hitting Heavenly Saturday.

I might be up during the 4-7... depends on work.

There's shuttles to most of the resorts though. You don't need to rent a car.

    Sounds great and thanks Dee!

Maybe more snowy goodness is headed this weekend. I'll be in town sometime early on Sunday. If anyone wants to ride just send me an email at: shreddtedd@hotmail.com and i'll be up for it. We can plan on meeting somewhere. I'm not familiar with the ski areas at all but can't wait to explore some new terrain.

Good timing. It's dumping in Tahoe right now. For a first timer, you can't beat the views from Heavenly. It's also a very large resort w/ lots of terrain. I'll let you know if I make it up there. (Mind you this will be my first day and I doubt I can last too long.)

    No worries

I'm looking to ride and have some fun in the sunshine. It's always nice to get the fresh goodies though. I'm here and it is not what i expected. I guess living in Colorado has really spoiled me. Doesn't look like theres quite the storms as i originally expected. That's what i get for expecting epicness. We will be up tomorrow on the 5th at Heavenly. We are staying at the Embassy Resorts directly across from the Gunbarrel run. I'm looking up at it and it looks exactly like Go Devil at Keystone. Some guy said the Face was sweet today. Might go over there. You guys don't be shy.Damn it looks nice and steep. Anybody up for riding please call me:720-690-5101. Will be riding tomorrow. It's suppose to snow on Wednesday. If Tahoe gets the goods i'll be riding Kirkwood for sure. The way things are now it looks like a few days at Heavenly maybe Sierra at most then back to Colorado.

    Peace,
    M

Kirkwood was the place to be... I got back from my UK biz trip late Saturday, socialized, ate, passed out, got up a 5am Sunday and drove to Kirkwood for the day. My apologies to anyone that left me messages on my cell as I didn't get a chance to check it until this morning. (sorry Rich).

Definitely a bit tracked, but over 75% of the hill was open with some decent coverage. Wall was open, the hikes off Siberia Bowl, playing below the sisters, Wagon Wheel bowl, definitly a nice start to the season. Snow quality was great, could play in the steeps and chutes but definitely had to pick you spots do to the limited covereage... Some good pow (about 12" of soft still) could be found with a little looking around, but pretty tracked out near the main runs.

Don't see much new snow on the horizon though, so you might be a bit stuck for a while. Have to see what later this week brings... As for being spoiled, heck, historically the conditions in Tahoe are usually pretty sketchy until January. February through March are prime time for us... We had just been lucky the last few years..

Sorry it wasn't better for ya though... That's the unfortunate gamble one takes early in the year. Hope you are still having a good time though...

Definitely thinking about Kirkwood next time.

Not having a car has really hurt the mobility. It's been fun. There is alot to see and i haven't been able to just take off like normal. Future trip will be in order for Kirkwood and maybe Sierra. I hear great things about both places. NK-Is Colorado in your itinerary for this year? If so TBone and I could show you around our neck of the woods.

Sorry you couldn't get out there, as it seems to have been the better place..

As for CO, not sure right now, but it's not looking good right now. Lotta shuffling around at work.... But trust me, if I can, I'll get out there and give you guys a holler...

    Hollah!

Colorado is waiting with plenty of goods. Breckenridge is one sick place to go for some great freestyle riding. The new imperial Lift should be fun for hiking whenever they open the cornice area. Looking out for all you peeps not getting the goods. Feelin ya. Looks like i'll be visiting the family and won't ride until early January. Gramma's getting older and i need to show some love.
