Monday, again at G3. Al brings the french snowboard crew with him - Cyrill and Alex.
After lots of talk about it and a discussion with the ski patrol (who btw said it was ok),
I jump in where fools dare tread. Oh,it was beautiful, that first pitch. Really nice even.
Then we came to the traverse under the lift. Holy crap, there was supposed to be a way across
this somehow. 40 degrees of loose rock, no track (the track, if you could call it that, was
about 10m below us), and an intermittent howling sandblaster wind that only blows when you
are in the most critical part. Not fun. In fact, it was just about the scariest thing I've
ever done. I'll do it again, but only with more snow.
The start

The fun pitch - knee deep and blower fluff.

****-in-yer-pants time. No track. Just rocks rocks and more rocks.
A better angle of what lies below from the telecabin

I did notice that one of the skiers has the same arm-flap jumping style as mehug.

Great stuff as always. Nice to see that the second half of your season has not been a let down... Gotta like windblasted, icy 40 degree rock gardens... Fun stuff.. ;)
I'm definitely a bit jealous again... Been itching for some good snow again.. Haven't seen pow or fresh snow of any kind in a little while now... Maybe around the 25th.. We'll see...
I have a work friend who was off in France over the weekend and spend a day boarding somewhere there. Thin coverage, nothing fresh, but the drinking was good... She lost half the heelside edge of her rental board early in the day but didn't care... Spend another 3 hours riding it in the afternoon slush...
