Hi all,

I'm looking for some input on places to get outside while visiting San Francisco. I'll be there for a conference in a couple weeks. Anything good to see within and hour or 90 min from the city that might have a decent hike? I won't have but maybe a morning to get out so anything close is cool.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Tom

I would recomend any number of areas along Skyline road (hw 35 south of sf) or down highway one towards Santa Cruz. More to the East there is Mount Diablo, and North is the Marine headlands/ Mount Tam. But the closest area that I always enjoy would be taking the ferry over to Angel Island in SF bay, lots of good hiking for a day or a morning. It all depends on what kind of hiking/what you want to see.

About 65 miles from SF is the Big Basin State Park
Awesome reserve for giant redwoods.

Multiple trails through there to suit the amount of time you have.
