Picked up National Geographic's Adventure mag the other day and it made me think of subscribing. I'm mostly a mountain biker who does some car camping here and there. Live on Long Island so the adventure scene isn't exactly in large frequencies. But I would like to read about adventures, some gear reviews, tips, and overall just look at the pretty pictures. Would you reccomend NG Adventure or Outdoor for this? Thanks.

From what little I've seen, I think NG Adventure has more useful advice for world travel and is generally worth more to people who do travel often. If I happen to have a wealthy uncle I forgot about who dies and wills me his entire fortune, I'll definitely subscribe to it. They also seem to have more advice for traveling on a budget, which is a refreshing change from brightly colored ads for expensive tours. However, although a lot of us might think a mountain bike trip across Uzbekistan or dogsledding across the Svalbard Archipelago sounds like fun, few of us are actually going to do it. If you're into pretty pictures and daydreaming while fishing at a state park, Outside is a lot of fun to read. Yes, it is the butt of jokes among a lot of people on this forum-- it's written more for the coffee table than the outdoors-- but it is entertaining, I must admit. So, at the risk of being lambasted for bad taste by my compatriots, I think you'd get more out of Outside.
