I am searching for a new tent. mostly for car camping that can fit 2. my coleman tent over while in mexico last weekend, everyone else's tent wasn't effected by the strong winds. is this a good choice for a 3-season, under $200 tent?thanks for any assistance! :)

To be honest, I would check out the LL Bean house brand tents. Typically their stuff seems overpriced and rarely is it on sale, but in the case of tents I think they offer a temendous amount for the money. Customer service is terrific. I broke a pole after 4 years and they sent me another no charge/no questions.

Actually I have been surprised by the value I have seen in North Face tents. I think it was a "talus" I saw that was very reasonably priced and well built.

My personal favorite is Kelty. Extremely well built and very reasonably priced tents. I have a streamside al that has served me very well for many years of bping. All at a shade over 5lbs.

Two summers ago, I spent a few weeks living in a 2-person TNF Rock of some form belonging to the Rocky Mountain National Park trail crew, at it seemed like a good enough tent. Good, not fantastic, but good, especially given the price. Not as windworthy as my Kelty Vortex, but it kept out light showers and went up without undue frustration. Stake it out well, and it should handle a pretty strong breeze. They've probably changed the design in the meantime, but I doubt you'll be disappointed with it...David.

Don't forget Eureka. Rugged tents and well made.
