Life is a balancing act. This past summer I bought a house in PA and have found that I am spending quite a bit of time renovating the place to fit my style/needs. While I do get a certain satisfaction out of the work I find that the time I spend infringes on the time I have for my outdoor passions. Add this to a demanding job and one that requires me to travel frequently and I have little time for anything. So, the poll is this - do you find that the 'demands of life' allow you to have less and less time to spend doing outdoor activities?

Yeah, last year, this year, and probably next year I have had less time to get outdoors than I have previously or I would like. I have had to give up much of my free time and mobility to help my wife go back to university. Combine that with big changes at work, time needed for my growing kids, my wife's job, and there isn't much time left for the outdoors. I find that I have had to pick my adventures very carefully...definitely quality over quantity.

absolutely on this one, i've been married to work over the last 10 months due to a new move and position, i been working on my house to get it ready to sell and that eats up resources, combine that with 2 other toys (mountain bike and road bicycle) and also duck's schedule is off from mine now, so i'm in the same boat overall

Give me an oar fellers. I am in the same boat. Short of help at work. I lot of overtime. Wife injured or sick. Something comes up. Road out (Blue ridge parkway has been cut for 6 months) . Something has kept me out of the woods for to long. Oh well, I am about ready to tell them to stuff it anyway. I have been able to for two years. Way past due. Keith

then I had health problems about 4 years ago and changed my lifestyle. I am very fortunate that I have a wife that makes a good living and supports my doing as much backpacking and outdoors endeavors as I can do. In a sense the health crisis was a blessing in disguise- changing my priorities. I"m also fortunate that I have a job that gives me about 6 weeks of vacation a year ....and I don't even live in France!!
