usually i would never indulge in something like this but as i will be doing a lot of family bike touring this summer here in europe and we will probably only cover 20-30 miles a day i say what the heck.

after brewing up a test cup here in my office i am glad that i went ahead with the purchase!

When I lived up north my primary backpacking parter used to bring an expresso maker with him. He was Austrian and his "routine" and regimen was was fun and entertaining. Each evening we went through the very social process of making expresso and I've got to say I really enjoyed it. I didn't want to carry the weight of it, but everyone enjoyed making and drinking the expresso. It's a good memory!

but i haven't used it yet backpacking on an extending trip but for a weekender no issues. bike camping is no issue either. where it really makes it money is when i am on exercises. as an army officer i spend a lot of time in the cold field during the winter and this makes it a bit more palatable.
