In a couple weeks there will be a gathering up in Tahoe I'll be heading to. All the backcountry splitboarder folks (and wannabe's like me) will be getting together to earn some turns, review some of the new products, and rub elbows with some cool folks involved in snowboarding... The lodge is full, but the activities are open to anyone dropping by... See below for more info..

latest update:

The 1st Annual, Couloir Splitboard Festival

What you need to know:

- If you are staying in the lodge, you can check in any time after Noon on Friday the 4th. Your meals will be taken care of between Friday night and Sunday lunch.
- If you are not staying at the lodge, events (movies, beer, raffles, etc..) will begin at 7:30 both Friday and Saturday night at the lodge. If you show up early, you'll be watching folks eat.
- We are not the only group at the lodge, so we have to be reasonably polite. "Quiet Time" starts at 10PM at the lodge.
- On Sunday, the 6th, Demos will be held at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort. You can pick up a board to demo there and just head into the backcountry (try not to monopolize it for the whole day), you can buy a full day pass at a discounted rate of $45, or you can get a "one-way" ticket for $15 and access the backcountry via any of Sugarbowl's gates.
- There are plenty of locals on our online forum (www.earnyourturns.com (http://www.earnyourturns.com)) or on splitboard.com who will happily join you for or point you in the right direction of some good tours in the area. Hopefully, we'll be mobbing the North Tahoe backcountry for a number of days before and after the event.
- There will be THOUSANDS of DOLLARS worth of gear, boards, etc.. being raffled off on Saturday night.
- No particular skill or fitness level is necessary. All shapes and sizes are welcome. Curved shapes are more welcome.

What you need to bring:

- If you are staying in the lodge, bring a sleeping bag. This is a bunkhouse environment.
- If you are not staying in the lodge, bring $18 for each night's events. You get a free year of Couloir with this!
- You need to bring your board, or rent one. There will be demos available, but we can't promise any availability.

The response to this event has been overwhelming. We've pretty much sold out all the spots we had in the lodge, and there are tons of people who will be coming from the local area or staying at hotels and attending. It's going to be incredible! Influential representatives of the manufacturers such as Jim Zellers, Tom Burt, Dean Thompson, DJ Barney, and Fin Doyle will be there, so I expect this event to have a huge influence on their production and design decisions over the next few years.

Thank you, in advance, to everyone who plans to be there. Your support is marking an upswing in momentum in the world of backcountry snowboarding.
