I decided I needed another activity to take any free time I wished had during the winter months. Living in Bozeman, and becoming more sucked into fly fishing, the choice was obvious. I'll start tying my own flies. Of course there are a few things I needed to buy before starting, but surely I thought I should be able to save a few $'s over the long haul. After all, Fly's at the local shop after all are almost $2 a piece.
Well after a $150 vise, a $100 light, several packets of $50 hackle, multiple boxes of $6 hooks, a couple of $60 tying classes I guessing I might be able to get my cost per fly down below $20 each by the end of the season, but I'll really have to ramp up my production schedule if I'm going to make it. And now free time is really at a premium because I've also discovered rod building.......
