Well, I want to ride this weekend, but it may be a bit tough to get up there and find a place that'll be open... Here's the latest from the national weather service:

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SACRAMENTO, CA HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING.

SNOW... HEAVY AT TIMES..WILL BLANKET THE SIERRA NEVADA TODAY THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. AT LEAST 1 TO 2 FEET OF NEW SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED EACH DAY WITH THIS STORM. ADDITIONALLY... STRONG SOUTH TO SOUTHWESTERLY WINDS WITH GUSTS TO 50 MPH OR MORE... ARE EXPECTED TO AT TIMES THROUGH THE WEEKEND. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS THROUGH THIS WEEKEND COULD RANGE BETWEEN 4 AND 8 FEET... WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. THIS WILL ADD TO THE RECENT SNOWFALL AN ABUNDANT AMOUNT OF NEW SNOW AND WILL INCREASE THE RISK OF AVALANCHES.

ANOTHER SYSTEM IS FORECAST TO MOVE INTO THE REGION ON MONDAY... SO THERE IS THE POTENTIAL THAT IT COULD BE SNOWING THROUGH MONDAY. ANY TRAVEL IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED. IF YOU LEAVE THE SAFETY OF BEING INDOORS, YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR LIFE AT RISK.

I like that last paragraph... Don't they know anytime you step out of your house these days you put your life at risk? And honestly, people are dieing in their own homes too, so why risk staying there? Sheesh...

That the National Weather Service says I am putting my life at risk by being outside so I will be permanently working from home. Needless to say, he was not amused.:(

You bastages get all the snow.

I can't leave the house, guess I'll bring the barbecue inside. Used the storm warning to escape SF early. Emails done, driveway cleared(sort of), time to shred. Hopefully I can get out when the big sh*t happens.

Yeah, that is a peculiar warning statement for them to issue. Your take on it is funny, too. Safety, indoors? They obviously haven't been to my abode.

It is an amazing storm series so far, though!

LuckE is probably out making snow angels in his driveway...in his jammies.

Hope you can get out and enjoy the goods. I'm going to try to convince my wife to drive up with me Saturday morning and at least try to get through the pass. Don't think the odds for success on either count are that good. Oh well...

Maybe sick day early next week? Monday should be suuuuweeeeet... odds are against that as well, but I can dream...

Just got back from riding & shopping(need beer). Today was limited operations again. Lots of wind, blowing snow, we haven't received that much yet. Maybe 8" since last night. Between a crap load of work & shoveling, I'll get some turns in.

Man, I wish we were getting dumps like that here. But then again, people here can't drive when it's dry. We have a 3ft base and a 5ft summit, all groomed. I want more pow!! We'll see, lots of huge storms moving north.

be careful out there. that is some serious snow!

when am i going to wise up and take a snowboard trip in the USA? once again, the alps is paying for the sins of the west (if you fall for the global warming bs)....dry and nothing on the immediate radar. hoping that the dumpage will make it here soon.

FYI,

Since Dec. 28, up to 19 feet of snow has fallen at elevations above 7,000 feet in the Sierra, with 6? feet at lower elevations in the Reno area. Meteorologists said it was the most snow the Reno-Lake Tahoe area has seen since 1916.

You bum.... Had another friend call me up and try to talk me into going with him to ride Wed/Thur... Punk... I'm stuck at work 'til further notice... No fun for me... :(

So you'll have to let me know how your latest ST creations do. The oSin is nice and all, but if I could get my hands on an elEx all mountain powder special, I'd be a happier man... Besides, it'd be unique and I'd have an excuse to add yet one more board to my quiver.. ;)

How much snow is sitting on the ground at your place these days? I'm thinking you'll have a pretty crazy 1/4 pipe when all is said and done... Too busy with pow now I'm sure, but when it stops falling... And if you see AC, tell him I'm expecting some insane backcountry pow shots. Especially some sweet pillow lines lines.
