In one of last month's snowboard rags I saw a photo of an absolutely insane looking run up in Canada by some guy. Thought, hey, I'd love to hear more about that one...

Next thing you know, the photo and a conversation about it pops up over on www.splitboard.com. Turns out the guy did it on a splitboard. He popped into the forum there to add a few coments on it. Anyway, thought I'd cross post it since I found it pretty interesting...

Crazy line!!!!! Pretty cool that it was done on a split and that he came on splitboard.com to talk about it. Thanks for the link!!

Jonaven is a sick rider, he had incredible parts & even a crazier line(I think) in the first Treetop film from Whistler. Craig Kelly gave him high props, the guy is sick & underated so Rome should be a good fit. Thanks for the pic.

And I second E, Jonavan is sick. He was in a bunch of the TBx films (5 - 10 I think?) In fact, wasn't he the guy in 5 that just straighlined some crazy line in the Alps?

Yah, that'd be the guy. I really like his attitude as well. Very downplayed, and just stoked to be out there riding. Nice combo of crazy skills, cajones grandes, and good 'tude...
And one more example of - it's not the equipment holding you back.....

Yup, just a lack of cojones holding me back. Sometimes photos or video don't do justice to the difficulty of a slope/drop/jump, so as impressive as that pic is, it must have looked straight down in realtime.

I'm curious to see the run out, kind of flat.Explosion I bet.

I'd like to see, and hear, that on video, I mean it must be super smooth rock no?

Actually he said the runnout wasn't bad. He had checked that part out extensively well before he made the call to ride it. He was flying though, as from the point in the photo he pretty much straight lined it as there was no way to speed check. Road it out....
A question was also asked about the damange he board took on that ride. Evidently just a few little scratched towards the tail. The rock was pretty icy and he managed to float a bit on his sluff. No sign of wear after a basic base grind...
