My earliest start to the season... Not a lot to choose from, but the snow wasn't bad at all. The achilles held up, but in general my right leg is waaaay out of shape still. I really eed to work on that before the season makes in into full swing. All in all, a good day...

Some random shots of the day at Kirkwood, and my folks new dog... Pure boxer, cool dog... She says "Hi!".

Is there a name for this move?

Wow, the snow looks awesome!! Hard to believe it's October huh?

You win first on the slopes methinks, cuz E at hood doesn't count.

I'm not quite sure what the name for that move is. In defense of the person riding, I will point out that they were spending the day testing prototype equipment, looking for any weekness or point of failure. Any move witnessed or caught on film was deliberate, and commited with the above goal in mind.

Stil, I think that move deserves a name...

As for winning da prize, I thought T-Bone went up once already? Someone else may have as well. Either way, I won my prize, as it's by far the earliest in the season I've ever ridden..

And yes, the snow as nice... Typical Cascade concrete, Sierra cement stuff as it started to set up pretty firm by the end of the day, with a bit of a crust on the untracked stuff. 1 to 2 more feet should be falling tonight through tomorrow night though. It should start warm and end cold, so it should bond pretty well...

Anyway, good times... Nice to get the season rolling and remove any doubt about my old injuries getting in the way...

As long as there is no heat wave, the snow should be good for my visit in Dec. Everyone else will be so jealous!:p

Do you recommend taking a cheaper board, if you have the option? Is the coverage good, or are there a lot of rocks, etc. showing?

Yes, I will be jealous until I go down in late February/early March to carve it up with the crew...

Sweet pics. More snow is forecasted for later this week! :D Another 1-2 feet. I'll be up in a couple of weeks. Here's hoping for more cold wet weather! :D

On the groomers, the coverage was fine. No worries about rocks, etc...... It'll be even better after this next storm.

However, if you plan on going off the beaten path, take a beater board, as there was definitely a fair amount of shrubs, stumps, and logs poking through. Rumor has it they might open all the way to the top this weekend if the next storm delivers as planned... That'd be REALLY impressive this early in the year.

If you do go and the've opened the upper mountain, I'd bring a rock board for that. Coverage looks good, but there are always rocks lurking just under the surface up there with this kind of coverage.. The snow has only had a couple days of warmer weather to help settle it, so there will be a lot of surprises left as it packs down on the steeper sections..

He was talking about hitting Loveland Saturday, the day before my one run. ;)

Snow looks awesome! As in, is that actually real snow? ;)

No achilles soreness? Amazingly I've never really felt my knee playing any volleyball, but did just skating around...probably gonna chilll til at least the snow here's decent. (that could be freakin March knowing our luck ;)

That's right... Think it was Pooh...

And yah, 100% Natural on the hill. They hadn't even thought about making it there yet...

As for the achilles, all good. Other muscles are sore though.. :)
