Yay!
My friends are expecting their first baby, a boy, in about a month. They'd been panicking about choosing a name. Well, we all agreed it'd be cool if his name had something to do with wine, since the couple are bigtime wine lovers. Though they shot down my first suggestion, Boone, they flipped for this one:
Cyrus Alexander (http://wine.deals-4u.com/vine/YNG42629_1998.html)
(Yes, I cribbed the name right offa the label of the bottle we happened to be drinking. Nice red, btw.)
And I get to make curtains for Cyrus' baby room. Yay! Yay, babies!
Sorry, I am just ridiculously stoked for my friends. :)

You named a child after a bottle of wine? Not a good sign...seriously! How many people do you know named Boone's that are alcoholics? ;)
Congrats! I don't know that I'd want to live with that responsibility until I had my own little ones.

A friend of mine was named by his hippie uncle because mom was unconsiuos and dad was not around. He ended up Larry Scott Danley.

"Warriors, come out to plaaayeaaayy....."
...it only makes the name cooler.
And T-Bone, per your post elsewhere, not to worry: I suspect when (if?) the parents sober up, they'll rethink the name. ;) Hmm...maybe "ibuprofin" would be a cooler name? :p

LOL!
I had two kids in my childhood circle named River and Fern. Last name, Maus (pronounced "moss".)
My sister had a friend named Star Mariner. Now THAT is a nice name.
My friend's porn name is Mick Shagger.

Well unfortunately, LSD didn't turn out too well. He was fine when I first met him, but he went downhill in the head. When we parted ways he had grown his brown hair long and sported a full beard, and honestly believed he was Jesus Christ. I'm serious. He did everything he could to look the part and he was very disturbinly convinced he was immaculantly conceived (his mother told him that). Very messed up family.
I saw him a couple years later, at college. I (jokingly) asked him if he still thought he was Jesus Christ and was met by a very strange look. Somewhere between anger and compassion. Disturbing, but fun to talk about, lol.....

With the look he gave me I took the opportunity to walk the other way whenever I saw him, lol.....
Unstable at best. And not only is he really, really "out there", he's actually, literally out there living in society somewhere. Scary, man, lol.....
Oh, and he was really into REM, apparently thiey make the music of the second coming (so I was told). We went to an REM show with him once and they have a big video screen behind them, flashing images and messages very quickly. One of the message read "Go to the information booth", and he did. He wandered the arena for 3 hours afterwards bugging every person at all the information booths at the place. We tried to tell him it was just some random messages for the show, not specific directions for him, and that convinced him more that it was just a message for him, and him only. By the time we left the event, he was so mad at us for "not allowing him to follow his path" that he holed up in his room for days.
