I can't believe this, but am leaning heavily towards getting a Volvo XC90 SUV....

I know it sounds incredible, but they're offering an amazing finance deal right now...

Anybody have any comments, outside of the obvious snorts?

Actually does look like a nice car. Doesn't fit in the normal snowboarder demo/lifestyle picture though. Actually looks like more of a father and wannabe snowboarder type car to me.. :)

I'm still driving a '95 GMC Jimmy 4-door..(well, will be driving when I can again) 4wd thingy that is paid for... Tough call to go back to payements while this thing still runs fine and doesn't look like an eyesore...

I love my BMW but its not my main snow car. RWD and a powerful inline 6 don't equal a great car on snow or ice, though it does very well with snow tires. Have you thought about the new BMW X3? It has a very advanced all-wheel drive system and two wonderful and proven engine options, the 2.5 liter and the 3.0 liter. Or, if you'd don't need an SUV look at the BMW 325iX, a sporty sedan or wagon (the 325iXT) with all-wheel drive. Let us know what you decide.

Actually I am considering the X3 also, not sure how much space there is inside them though....will test drive and report back!

I need an SUV (ha -sure I do!)

is an AWD Chrysler Town & Country. I need Funk Master Flex to pimp it out for me, though.:p

BMW is the official car sponsor of Vail Resorts so there were always BMWs at Breck, Keystone, etc. and the X3 looks way too small for you and the kids. What you need is the X5. Yum.

The Volvo's not bad. Probably one of the better options out there. But how a bout a Toureg? They are supposed to be pretty damn great.

I'm still rolling in the 87 4Runner. Love that damn thing.

the touregs don't offer decent financing so are too pricey for me....strange given that the Volvo and Toureg are basically the same price...

You know what I drive and it has 225K mi on it.

Have you compared a test drive to the wagon? I always have thought of you as more of a soccer mom :p

Are the Denman Islands cool?

I've got everyone from the yo-boys to the rednecks covered with a Hyundai Tiburon GT V6, a Ford Bronco XLT, and a Honda Prelude SI

the XC90 is bascially a wagon on steroids, think the drive is pretty similar...
I never test drive new vehicles, I just buy them and then cuss later.

Yes, Denman Island (it's one island not a group of islets) is very cool, as are all the gulf islands and the San Juans for that matter (the San Juans are what you americans call the gulf islands once they are below the border)
Lots of hippies and artistes, you'd fit right in.

...these days is my Cannondale road bike, while the trusty ol' Nissan Pathfinder sits in the driveway most of the time.

Imagine my shock last weekend when I went to put gas in the car, after not having gone to a gas station in over a month... from $1.78 to $2.23! So, pedaling to get around keeps raking up points, combined with a grateful conscience and getting the family in tiptop shape for the beach! :D

yikes, hard to even type the word "Volvo"

oh well, it's only a lease, I don't actually "own" one at least

Got your bumpersticker yet? ;)

How's the sound system?

Nice ride. :)

I'm still rollin' in the Outback. Total frump-mobile, but it's solid and hasn't given me a lick of trouble so far. Maybe a WRX next go-round.

canuck

Volvos are touting themselves to be relatively environmentally friendly so maybe it is a solar panel for California drivers?

Tantrum

Otherwise, you could paint some numbers on it like the buses in LA. That way, when you are involved in a high-speed chase and being filmed from the air, I'll know it's you.

OK, I'll paint a large number 69 on the roof for you!!

My little Hyundai Accent GT. The next car I purchase I hope will be a 1970's or 80's something Porsche 911.
Gotz to get a better paying job for that though. lol

(my pictures aren't showing up in the preview. Hope they show up when I submit it.)

Hey, good to see ya Stine.. Was wondering how ya were doing...

As for that vintage Porsche, nice... I test drove a friends 84 carrera and well, it's definitely a different car to drive compared to newer ones. Had a real light flywheel with the clutch which made for tricky starts in first 'til you got used to it. Other than that though, nice ride...

Any good mtb rides lately?
