I am loking for a roomier sleeping bag so I can toss and turn and *roam* around in my bag. I am a bigger person, hence need a bigger bag. This bag will only be for summer use. +45 and above.
Thanks
Maxwell....Check out the bags made by Big Agnes. Not only are they a well made bag, but much roomier than most with about a 70" shoulder girth. A buddy of mine has on, although I forget which model, and loves it. Good luck. Ed

Second vote for Big Agnes... Hiking buddy of mine just grabbed one for most of his duties and I had a chance to check it out. Not too bulky (weight or packable size) for the added room. Nice summer alternative to the norm...

Sierra Designs makes a zip in bag extender. I got one and I love it. It lets you keep a mummy for the effeciency but gives about an extra 6 - 8 inches of shoulder room.
Yummy! :D

How compatable is that SD bag extender to other folks zippers? That's a great idea though... I mean how hard would it be to grab two yards of microfleece and a zipper set and put something together yourself? The added weight would be 75% the zipper it seems... Hmmm... Good ideas...

I have a sierra designs bag, north face, and a slumberjack. it's a little long on the slumberjack, but it still works.

I like room in my bags, too. I got long bags from Marmot even though I am average sized, and they have a little extra girth. The Marmot Never Winter is a nice bag. Increasing in price and performance are the Arroyo and the Hydrogen. If you are patient, you can get good deals on them, too. You also might also still find the Sierra on sale at Sierra Trading Post. It is a nice one that they no longer make.
Feathered Friends makes a wide bag called the Sandpiper that is rated to 40 F.
The Kelty Light Year is also a nice one and not too expensive either. It comes in down (my preference) and synthetic.
