Hey Wayne and Ed! I haven't been up to much, just patiently waiting to heal my latest injury so I can get back to trail running. The weather at the Red is just about warm enough for me to take my favorite climbing partner back out. She's only 8 :D so we have to wait for temps to get at least up in the low 40's.
I did just order a new gadget. I don't buy much gear lately, but you guys would be proud. It's a Timex heart rate monitor with a GPS distance/speed function. It doesn't even require calibration, which appeals to my lazy nature. Found it on sale for a great price, and I'm just waiting for them to get their backordered inventory. I can't wait to try it out on the trails around here. I'm also going to use it to give people grief when they ***** about climbing approaches. "But dude, we've only gone .47 miles!"

its sounds as though your litle girl has the climbing bug too! how is your little boy doing also? even though your a climber now, we need to get together for another group weekend hike sometime this spring or summer
p.s. i don't like all the snakies in the gorge during spring and summer
You know I finally made it out to Yosemite with EdK and the Ga. gang. I used the map you sent me and I thank you for that. Sounds like you and the kids are doing good. I hope you don't take offense but you need to tone down the makeup a bit.

make-up? You mean it doesn't look natural like the lady at the Estee Lauder counter promised??
I'm so glad you made it out to the big ditch. I'm due for a repeat performance soon, this time with the climbing gear. We're all good here in Kentucky. I just started homeschooling my oldest, and of course I'm hoping he'll want to "study the geology of the Red River Gorge" up close and personal. ;)
Wayne, my daughter will protect you from the copperheads. One day we counted over a dozen in one very small area at a crag, plus a black snake. I was cool with that, but reaching blindly up onto a ledge and finding a copperhead skin while climbing that same day rattled me just a little bit. The time the baby copperhead fell off the cliff top onto a backpack my friend was sitting on was funny, though.
I'd love to do a Fall backpack, even though it is a ways off. It's definitely gorgeous here at that that time of year, so we should plan something. Of course I'll hang your ass by a rope and make you climb a little, too.
It's good to "see" all of you again!!
