I think it said it was Sugarloaf or something like that. Isn't that Maine? I dunno. I hear they are pretty strict about out of bounds riding though. They'll yank your pass the second you duck the ropes.. Guess it's easy since you'll be busy unstrapping to try to run away...

ha try riding michigan! we have sweet tree riding, but we have small hills, so ski patrol is always in sight. if u get caught out of bounds, u get your ticket ripped...AND PAY DOUBLE!
They had a sting the other weekend. We have a run that takes you down to the casinos. The cops busted 20 some odd people.Either pay a grand or something or give them your pass. This is why I wear a ski patrol coat all the time.By the way Sugarload,Mi is up for auction this month.600' almost 200" a year.Actually it'll end up in courts for years especially since the so called owner is in jail for 2 years.

That's how the Sierra's are going to look in another week if this heat keeps up. It was in the 80's in the Bay Area. All the snow is going to be gone soon. I usually don't do much spring skiing because the snow is so lousy. I don't think I'll do any at all this year.
Oh well, time to shine up the mountain bike.

I know, I know, I know. It's freeeeeaaaakin' hot out there! 92 in downtown L.A.? Uffftah!
But remember the theory of opposites...what goes up, must come down...the opposition of yin versus yang...blonde versus brunette...McDonald's vs. Del Taco.
mmm...Del Taco...um.
Anyway!
Last year, we saw a similar condition in the Sierra in early spring, but dagnabbit if, come April, Mother Nature didn't bounce back with a fury! Keep the faith, Homer.

Mammoth Mountain has plenty of good snow!
Especially runs from the top: http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=showMyPhoto&albumID=123902327&photoID=123908459&security=zYkvYr
The only place it was really soft/buttery was the backside, but no slush yet. Snow was good from the top, but a little heavy/chunky at the bottom. Groomers were good and fast. And I didn't hit any rocks.
if that's maine, it's a real difference from all the snow they saw in jan. and feb! so i hear it's really warm in the bay area as well- guess i need to bring the sunscreen and shorts on thusrday!
so E, what's the situation in tahoe- season's winding down already???!

I don't like to be an alarmist but it's been almost 60 degrees in Tahoe during the day. Snow isn't going to last in those conditions. I've been wearing shorts everyday this week at home(which has been around 80 degrees everyday). I guess I shouldn't complain, I've had more powder days this year than I've had in the last 3 years. Time to slather on the sunscreen and get out the rock board.

Theory is it'll change again next week. You know, the good'ol 2 week weather cycles.
No threat of the season winding down. Even with the heat wave, Kirkwood has almost 200" base at the top, with 100"+ at the bottom still. Mother nature is just giving us a taste of spring conditions now before she piles a little more on.
Corn is supposed to be good around 8-9000 ft right now. 10am harvest on the sunny slopes, 12pm harvest on northern slopes... Sounds good to me...

I like the longterm forecast(educated guess) about the Tahoe weather. Shows a full on winter cycle starting again after the end of next week. I'll believe it when I see it though...
In the meantime it's gogle tan weather...

Gotta love those messages at work teasing you with the pow reports! Time for an attack of acute appendicitis? ;)
