More than 1,000 events will take place across the country

WHO:
American Hiking Society, the only national organization dedicated to promoting and protecting hiking trails, the surrounding natural areas, and the hiking experience itself.
WHAT:
The media is invited to attend one or more of the many National Trails Day® events in their area. National Trails Day, organized by American Hiking Society, is the largest annual single-day trails and outdoor celebration in the country, with more than 1,000 events taking place from coast to coast. Events take place in local, state, and national parks, forests and other public lands from coast to coast. Activities include hiking, biking, horseback riding, paddling, trail dedications, park clean-ups, trail work projects, and much more.
WHY:
Journalists will be able to capture local community members join hundreds of thousands of hikers, bikers, equestrians and others throughout the country in celebrating National Trails Day. There will be ample photo, video and interview opportunities as visitors show their appreciation for trails.
