A VERY POWERFUL PACIFIC STORM HAS GENERATED WHAT COULD BE THE_LARGEST_WAVES RECORDED SO FAR THIS WINTER ALONG THE NORTHERN AND_CENTRAL_CALIFORNIA COAST...AND PERHAPS THE LARGEST IN THE LAST 10_YEARS. THE_ LEADING EDGE OF THE LARGE WAVES REACHED THE NORTHERN COASTAL_WATERS_LATE LAST NIGHT AND WILL REACH THE CENTRAL WATERS LATER THIS MORNING._THE WAVES WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD THROUGH TONIGHT AS THEY SPREAD SOUTHWARD DOWN THE COAST.
COMBINED SEAS WILL BEGIN BUILDING TO AROUND 15 FEET LATER_ THIS MORNING...REACHING NEAR 20 FEET BY THIS AFTERNOON AND THEN_PEAKING_ BETWEEN 25 AND 40 FEET TONIGHT INTO THURSDAY ON THE_OCEAN...AND REACHING 10 TO 20 FT IN THE MONTEREY BAY. IN ADDITION TO WAVE_ SETS IN_THIS RANGE...THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY OF A FEW EVEN_LARGER WAVES_OCCURRING FROM TIME TO TIME...PERHAPS UP TO 50 FEET. THESE_HIGH SURF CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO CONTINUE THROUGH AT LEAST LATE_FRIDAY...BEFORE SEAS SUBSIDE TO AROUND 15 FEET.
