I just bought a Kelty Clark tent and am having a whopper of a time finding a footprint. Does anyone know if there is a place that has them in stock, ready to ship, or is there just a fit-all footprint that I can cut to size or something? Thanks.

have you tried Tyvek? Its light and you can cut it to fit your tent.

I just bought some from a friend. My Warmlite is 42 sq ft, and the sheet of Tyvek weighs 7 oz. My old footprints for a smaller tent weighed 22 oz and 15 oz (needed both, one for the vestibule).

I just read about Tyvek briefly and I'm very interested. It doesn't seem terribly expensive either. A few questions, though. Is it easy to cut? How would I attach tiedowns to it? Do I make it slightly smaller than the actual outline of the pitched tent? Thanks for the tip.

that they are necessary. i sacrifice them for weight savings. at best they will keep your floor from wearing out a little early but then i've got two tents; heavily used in lots of different terrain; oklahoma, colordao, wyoming, germany, nc, va, ga, etc from pine forests to rocky alpine cols...i say leave it at home!
