On Mt Mitchell NC temp at present is 27 with 20 or so mph winds. Chill factor in the minus. Brrrrrrrr. I imagine at Shinning Rock about the same. Maybe a little warmer. Was there last weekend. No color to speak of. The gas pumps at Pisgah Inn are no longer there. GA boys take note. Keith

About this time of year 3 or 4 yrs ago. I was at the rock camping in the thick grass on top of black balsam listening to the fox hounds running in the valley between me and cold mountain. If I had of had some shine to sip it would have been perfect. Oh well, was damn near perfect anyway. Keith
Hey Keith....as I mentioned to Wayne last week, we also have turned the corner here in So. Ca. and headed toward winter. Last weekend our local big mountains received between 6" - 12" of snow between 8,000' and 11,500'. Damn those 100* temps as we were all tired of them. Ed

Where is this winter you speak of all I see is fog and fog does not help me here, I want snow.
Actually winter already started about a month ago here in san francsico when we filled fillmore street with snow and had some mad ski jumping.
San Gorgonio Wilderness in the San Bernardino Mts. Here in the valley we recieved about 1.5" of rain while above 8,000' it was snow. Almost time to bust out the snowshoes :) Ed
