Hey there all you old timers (and you know who you are). Things are going well here in Colorado. I've not been on in a long time, but I had a new adventure to share. Though y'all might like it.

I just got back from a week up in Canada to the Quetico Provincial park. We took a bush/float plane north of Ely, MN for about an hour and got dropped off in the middle of nowhere. Spent the next seven days paddling back to civilization.

These are all photos from my digital cam -- the point and shoot photos will be ready next week. They'll include pics of the 40 inch long pike and 22 inch small mouth bass (released for others to enjoy).

Hope you enjoy!

Looks like a good trip. My father spent some time in Quetico many winters ago, before I was part of the picture, but I've never been canoe camping. It's something I'd like to do. I've done plenty of day trips before. For good ol' relaxation, nothing can beat boating. Hiking puts me into the me-big-man-me-hike-fast mentality that's kept me from enjoying a lot of trips; I can make myself sit back and see things if I'm in a canoe.

So what was Chris so ticked off about? Something involving the open Pelican case? Took too many cigars or something?

Ahhhh, that's just Chis getting all animated when telling a story. He wasn't mad, just demonstrating what he'd say to someone if they gave him trouble.

Actually, this wasn't a relaxing trip by any means. There was a lot more paddling and a lot less fishing than we thought. We covered 17 miles (as the crow flies) in one marathon day. We got rained on pretty hard the first day and couldn't put in any time on the water. This caused us to be a day behind from the very first day. Those log jams weren't any fun either. We had to cross 6 of them and 3 portages on a different day.

Pics of the fish are posted now: the fish (http://homepage.mac.com/mkbennet/PhotoAlbum5.html)
