If you want cheap you might want to look into one of those time-share sales pitch deals...where in exchange for going to a couple hour meeting (where they do everything in their power to get you to sign up for a time share) you get cheap lodging. Just be very, very careful since I hear the sales people can be ridiculously convincing. Sorry I can't tell you more, I've never done it myself, only went with my parents when I was really young.

If you don't care about things like nightlife and huge terrain parks, you might want to check out Mt. Baker. But then again, I'm pretty biased.

hey Kira, you in for a min-get together at Baker over Xmas when Marina is back in town??

- the only downside to a Baker vacation is the daily drive up from Glacier don'tcha think??

Of course -- I'll probably be up there already, my finals end December 14 and I don't have much motivation to stick around the city. The drive up from Glacier can suck but in reality it's only like 25 minutes...which to me seems like nothing since I spent all last season driving up from either seattle or bellingham!

If you want cheap housing at baker, there's the mountaineers lodge which as far as I know is the only lodging actually up on the hill (except for the employeer housing :)) http://www.mountaineers.org/lodge/baker/
