Well, I had a good time down in Baja Mexico for a short little post move, no wife, vacation. I survived mostly unscathed.... I'll try harder next time...

Reason for the trip was the 31st Annual Estero Beach International Volleyball (http://www.esterobeach.com) tourney. Translated: An excuse to go south of the board and enjoy a lot of alcohol, sun, and a little volleyball... The tourney was a bit smaller this year with only enough for about 440 teams... So, a little under 900 folks to play ball and party with.

We stayed in Rosarito, about an hour drive from the tourney due to the better lodging and different night life. To our surprise there was another party going on here this weekend too. Some little thing called CollegeFestX. (http://www.collegiatecircuit.com/cfestx/theschedule.htm) Hey, more the merrier.

Anyway, had a good time, didn't get into trouble, and only one new minor injury.... Didn't have the camera on me most of the time (what goes on in Mexico stays in Mexico) but have a couple random shots...

Rosarito by day...

My good side....

Am I serving or doing the white man dance?

And watch your step... Different energy drinks as this tourney... Beer anyone?

A good time was had by all... Finished the trip with a few Class 5 Huricane's at Mission Beach's 'Canes before hopping on the plane home... Good stuff... :)

cool but i was expecting more bikini shots. ;) glad to hear the foot is healing...

i'm taking off for a week+ of mountain biking in the french alps here (http://www.2alpes.com/summer/uk/site/activites/sportdetente/quicktime/vue_ensemble.mp4), here (http://www.snowmap.net/web/index.php?station=alpedhuez&saison=ete&lang=gb), and here (http://www.la-grave.com/english/big-map.php). :D

i actually could go snowboarding (les deux alpes is 3600m and open for summer skiing) but i'm going to focus on biking. too much crap to haul. if i really get a jonez i might rent something.

Looks like a good time... Definitely a good time to shift gears... So to say...

And yah, sorry I failed to delivery on the bikini shots... No excuse, I was slacking... I didn't have the camera with me the day that all the true talent was out there. Oh well...

didn't find out until later, but I guess my sister was down at the v-ball tourney with a couple of friends. They just went to hang out, they weren't competing. Sounds like it was a fun time.

So did you do well?

Small world... It's funny how many random people you meet in such places. Guess I missed her, oh well...

As for doing well, um, I had fun and came back nearly as healthy as when I went down there, so yes. Just not that well in the tourney. I wasn't lucky enough to draw a strong enough partner to cary me. Oh well.. Next year...

Mexico and volleyball...doesn't get much better for summer.

Glad no further injuries.

I played a little blind draw tournament here in Denver this past weekend against an aspiring AVP player and a retired AVP player among others. My 5'10, 24 inch vertical having self didn't last long, but it was fun and there was beer. :)

Yep, blind draw. Not sure if I consider it lucky or not, but didn't get paired up with a real strong partner. As it was I saw about 10% of the serves so my out of shape gimpy self didn't get picked on much.

I've been stuck playing against some serious ringers in the past down there and it's fun to a point, but my stats are similar. 5'10 and when healthy I might touch the low twenties in the sand... This year the biggest ringer there was Brian Lewis, and he was paired up with the 60+ year old founder of Quicksilver. Impressive watching him play 4/5's the court and just dominating the game...

Anyway, good times.... Fun, sun, and beer. A good way to go through life...

I have a 24" vert also, when jumping off a curb. Impressed that you could play with the ankle injury, either you can handle pain or you're an idiot who was drunk the whole time. Don't have to answer yet.
